Berlin Wall Sites Near Berlin Spy Tunnel Memorial
Memorial to the CIA and MI6 spy tunnel of 1954-56, which ran 450 metres from a fake radar station in Rudow to tap the Soviet army's telephone cables under Altglienicke. An information stele and three photo panels stand on the former border line, close to the point where the tunnel crossed from the American sector into the Soviet one, five years before the Wall was built along that same line. George Blake had betrayed the operation to the KGB before digging began, and the Soviets let it run for eleven months rather than expose him.
