Berlin Wall Sites Near Führungsstelle Schlesischer Busch
In Schlesischer Busch park, a former four-storey command tower still stands. It is one of only a handful of surviving Berlin Wall watchtowers. Unlike standard observation towers, this was a Führungsstelle (command post) from which 18 other watchtowers in the surrounding area were supervised. Border guards coordinated patrols and monitored the death strip from here. Today the tower can be viewed from the outside and is accompanied by an information display documenting the border security apparatus.
