Berlin Wall Sites Near Weiße Kreuze

Located on the bank of the Spree near the Reichstag building, this memorial consists of seven white wooden crosses commemorating victims who died attempting to cross the Berlin Wall at this stretch of the river. Each cross bears the name and date of death of a victim. The crosses were first erected by private citizens and have become one of the most photographed memorials in Berlin. The site is part of the Berlin Wall History Mile, a series of information points along the former wall route.
